Method for Multiple UV Tiles in Maya (2018)

Setup a layered texture node feeding whatever channel (diffuse) for example.

Layer your image files into the layered texture.

Select all of the image nodes and go to the attribute spread sheet.  Turn all default color RBG values to 0

For each 2D placement node, turn off Wrap U and Wrap V

In the Attribute Editor for the Image Node:
Set UV Tiling Mode to Explicit Tiles
Change the U and V values to reflect each image’s placement along the UV tiles.

The Maya Move Command

As per usual Autodesk documentation on this is abysmal.  The following explanation of the absolute flag is taken directly from the Autodesk website:

Automatic Hand Setup

This script will setup an fk/ik and driven rig on a humanoid hand.

It is a zip file that can be downloaded and then extracted into your my docs maya folder.

The zip will install the scripts and the assets the script uses.

Maya Grid Display Flaw

So, file this under irritating maya bugs.  BTW, there used to be a place where you could report these to Autodesk.  I guess they got rid of that, I suppose it’s easier to ignore the feedback you never get…

 

Anyway, the maya grid display may be displaying the wrong grid configuration when you start maya.  You may even build something under the impression that you are using accurate grids, but if you were to open the grid preferences and do nothing ...

Running Mel Scripts Using Python, Maya, Python

There are some things that can’t be done using python directly.  For instance you can’t do anything with the HIK system in maya using just python.  There is a way around this!  You can use eval().  eval() is a special command that tells the language you are using, in this case python to read the string enclosed as a command with its arguments.
