Now that we are done with 2019 I will upgrade to Maya… 2019. I think it is still a common practice among most professionals to do what I do and wait till at least the 1st service pack to upgrade. Export an FBX from Maya using Python

There are a fair amount of people out there who have weighed in on how to do this in various forums but I didn’t find a single one that actually worked despite them being voted as the solution.
